Salons Series

TZAVTA SALON

Tzavta began with a simple idea: creating a space for meaningful conversation.

Inspired by 17th-century Parisian salons—where women, the original salonières, boosted conversation breaking class, religion, and gender boundaries. Known for one of the forces that unleashed, they redefined what connection truly is. These salons elevated conversation to an art form, prioritizing wit, curiosity, and mutual respect over status or power. Revolutionary, they recognized conversation as an art form, prioritizing wit, curiosity, and mutual respect over status or power. They created a rare environment where ideas traveled freely, relationships deepened through dialogue, and new ways of thinking and being together were possible. Ultimately, both then and now, connection — real, transformative connection — happens in spaces of hospitality, intimacy, and thoughtful conversation.

Tzavta recreates this alchemy for our time.

CHARDONNAY WITH A CUBE OF ICE

This series celebrates women in science with the electric energy of a party. Each event features a scientist  talking about her research, followed by a full-blown dance floor experience.. It’s where science is not simplified—but humanized.

Removing prejudice, fear, anxiety, we make it fun and interesting by discovering current scientific  research happening. Connecting the science to community and the community to its research.

Short presentations, dance floor. Science and scientists are at their most accessible. And ask our scientist to  share their “summit push” most embarrassing playlist because these make up the best dancing

Why "Chardonnay with a Cube of Ice"?

For decades, the immortal “Chardonnay Housewife”—sipping white wine with ice—has scandalized people all over the world, who curiously, were deeply offended on behalf of the grape.

Chardonnay with a cube of Ice does not waste time chilling wine, nor apologizing. The world is going to hell in a handbasket, we prefer to follow rules of thermodynamics rather than those of proper wine etiquette. We allocate time for science, dancing, and real connection.

"If I can't dance, it's not my revolution." — Emma Goldman

SALON IN A SALON

Coming in 2026

What if a hair salon could function not just as a beauty space—but as a center for dialogue, empowerment, and community transformation?

Salon in Salon reclaims working salons as vibrant forums for conversation, care, and change. This series brings discussions about social justice and activism into beauty salons—spaces that have historically served as community anchors, particularly for women.

Why Hair Salons?

Why Salons? Inspired by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Nadia Murad's childhood dream of becoming a hairdresser, we recognize what's often overlooked: Women's beauty rituals are frequently undermined as vain and unintellectual, while the equivalent barber experience is romanticized in the media and seriously researched for its health benefits. Hair salons are hubs of intimacy, joy, vulnerability, touch, and talk—a needed respite from daily demands and, in many communities, a physical safe space.

In July 2023, our connection with Nadia Murad at a Tzavta salon inspired not only the creation of Odem's World Foundation but this specific program that honors beauty spaces as legitimate unapologetic intellectual forums.
